What Micro Focus makes
Micro Focus brought together software for organisations running older applications they cannot walk away from: code analysis, log management, collaboration. The company was acquired by OpenText in 2023, and product names and licensing paths have been shifting since.
Why Micro Focus, and where it stops
Micro Focus is here because contracts are still running under that name and have to be renewed or wound down. That is the reason and the warning in one: since the OpenText acquisition, names and licence forms have been shifting, so check a renewal against what the product is called today and not against the old contract.

- The quantityOn a larger batch the per-device price comes down. Twenty at once is a different conversation from two, even when everything else is equal.
- What has to be on itA device delivered with your settings, software and security costs more than a box, and saves an installation day per unit. That is a choice, not a surcharge.
- Delivery and installationTo one address or to fifteen sites, with or without on-site placement, with or without taking away what was there. That difference is in the price and it is yours to steer.
- Buying or renting, and for how longThe same equipment can be a purchase or a monthly amount across three or four years. That changes not only the figure but where it lands in the books, and it is the conversation with the most in it.

- Configuration instead of installationNo device arrives, so the work sits in the set-up: who may do what, where the data sits, what happens when someone leaves. Left on its defaults, software like this does less than half of what you pay for.
