What Durabook makes
Durabook is Taiwanese and makes rugged laptops and tablets for use in vehicles and outdoors: chassis surviving a metre drop, screens readable in sunlight, and ports you can operate with gloves. Many models have a swappable battery you change while in use.
Why Durabook, and where it stops
Durabook is the alternative to Getac and Panasonic Toughbook, and the comparison almost always turns on three things: sunlight readability, the vehicle mount and the battery swap. What sets the brand apart here is price, at equal certifications it is noticeably lower. Where it stops: the service network in the Benelux is smaller, and for a fleet in daily use how quickly a faulty device is exchanged weighs more than the purchase price. We agree that up front, with a spare device in the calculation.
