What Digital Watchdog makes
Digital Watchdog is American and supplies cameras, recorders and DW Spectrum: a video management system licensed per server rather than per camera. At larger camera counts that makes it noticeably cheaper, and it is exactly where the brand positions itself against the European competition.
Why Digital Watchdog, and where it stops
Digital Watchdog is defensible for a medium-sized installation where the camera count grows: a school building, a business park, a housing association. A per-server licence means an extra camera is not a bill, and that changes how an installation grows. Where it stops: the brand is American and support in Europe runs through the distributor, so expect a longer line than with Axis or Hanwha. And the same boundary as with all video surveillance: we are not in the alarm receiving centre, reporting through to a monitoring service runs via a certified party.
